OK went to the primary school re-union met up with a few people and now I'm actually happy that I went, turned out quite good and the girl that had organised it did such a good job making it very interesting with some history on the school etc. Turns out I am the type of person that would go to one of these things, none of the mongrels that gave me a hard time over the years there showed their face, probably a good thing to :) Steve.   Read the rest of the entry...

Wow here comes the enevitable invitation to the primary school reunion, I thought it might happen sooner or later, they have a facebook page where lots of piccys and fond memories of this and that are posted. Just can't bring myself to write anything there, for me it was 4 years of horror, the constant bullying, the continuing search for somewhere to hide out for recess and lunch times so no-one would see me, for most of the boys at that school the main game was spot the redhead so we can push him over and punch him, my mother bless her soul had the biggest collection of cremes, salves, detol and the like and was dressing my wounds almost every day. I saw a quote on facebook tonight "The Man Who Treats His Wife Like A Princess, Is Proof That He Was Raised By A Queen!". I remember when I was very young in the mid 60's, the hours Mum and I would spend lined up or sitting on the seats in the welfare offices in Grenfel Street waiting for a handout so she could buy food for us and I remember every time she would try the legacy office as well (welfare for dead soldiers wives) where she would be turned away sometimes with a vengance being told "your husband didn't die in the war so your not eligible". Now looking back I know what really killed him in the years after returning was stress from being at war, not that they would acknowledge that, but that was the commitment that my mum had, hours of queue after queue then catch the train from town walk to the supermarket, then home to cook a meal for me and my sister, I remember the relatives that helped as much as they could, and the ones that didn't, but my mum taught us so much and certainly will always be remembered as the queen of my world.   Read the rest of the entry...
